Hannah Loves - April
As a student studying for my degree, April is a time full of coursework, revision and the stresses that they bring! Although I've had a lot of my time taken up by my essays and preparation for May, I wanted to take some time to write about my favourites of the month.
13 Reasons Why
After finishing Gilmore Girls, which featured in my January loves, I decided to watch the show that everyone was talking about, 13 Reasons Why. This 13 episode series follows the story of the suicide of high-school student, Hannah Baker, and the 13 tapes she left of messages she recorded before her death. I was instantly hooked on the series and found it difficult to stop watching as it engrossed all of my thoughts. The telling of Hannah's story is one that is highly sensitive, but one that needs to be shared, as amongst many lessons, it shows how something that may seem quite little can easily affect someone. 13 Reasons Why was recently uploaded to Netflix and is based on a book published in 2007. Miss Selfridge Mom Jeans
Las Iguanas
This month I've visited the Latin American chain twice. At the beginning of April, after a very stressful deadline, a friend and I visited the restaurant in the sunshine for cocktails. We both had the "Mango Collins" a refreshing mix of vodka, triple sec, mango, orange and lemonade, on their all day, everyday 2 for 1 cocktails! The "Huana Party" of gin, rum, passion fruit, elderflower and apple also went down a treat. Even better, the deal not only goes on glasses of the drinks but pitchers too!
During my Easter break from university, my parents and I visited another of their restaurants for lunch. Their varied menu has something for everyone, even those of us that aren't the most adventurous with our food and don't really like to dabble with spice! We'll be going back for sure and it's definitely worth a visit if you haven't already!
My next love of the month has to be my favourite recent purchase of these Miss Selfridge Mom Jeans with beautiful intricate embroidery, for £45.
Unfortunately, this style specifically doesn't seem to be on sale anymore, however, Miss Selfridge have a very similar pair available now. Since I first spotted these online I've had to stop myself from buying them as I can't justify buying some that are so similar to my own!
Music
Just like I have featured in previous posts, I like to include some of my favourite songs to listen to over the past month. First of all, the debut single "Sign of the Times" from the lovely Harry Styles has to be mentioned. As a mega fan of One Direction and Harry in my early teens (um, and now), I was excited to see what he was going to release, and I wasn't disappointed! Another track I've been listening to a lot lately is "Talking To You" by Izzy Bizu from her debut album "A Moment of Madness". I've found the song to be such a feel good song for me, which helps a lot in the hours of revision!
Lee Stafford Chopstick Styler
Lastly, just before the new year, I wanted to buy myself a curling wand that would be suitable for my short, bobbed hair. As someone who is not gifted in the hairstyling department I wasn't keen on getting something that was going to break the bank, So, I opted for Lee Stafford's Chopstick Styler, which is currently retailing on Amazon for £20. The narrow width of the styler gives you 80s style curls but also allows for a looser curl if that is what you'd like, meaning it's perfect for dressing up or dressing down.
That's all for this month, thank you for reading.
Love,
H x
