Summer 2017 - A Week In Lake Garda
I'm writing this as I take advantage of the rare sunshine we have in our British "summertime" in my back garden. Can hardly complain!
A couple of weeks ago I visited Lake Garda in northern Italy. Italy has always been a country that I would have loved to visit given the chance and after our time there I will hopefully be able to return!
After arriving late on Saturday, we spent some time in the resort we were staying in, Malcesine, on the east side of the lake. Malcesine is a quaint and classically Italian village, with narrow cobbled streets and a gelato shop in every direction you turn.
Monday, perhaps my favourite day of the holiday, was when we took a trip to Venice. It is truly as pretty as it looks on a postcard. No trip to Venice would have been complete without going in a gondola. You really do see a different side to it, away from the business of the city centre. If you ever have the opportunity to visit, it really isn't to be missed.
After a well needed day of rest by the pool, we took a tour around the entire lake, stopping in Salo, Sirimone and Lazise. All of which showcased the beauty of the lake in its own individual way.
Thursday was cable car up Monte Baldo day. Almost 6000ft up for stunning panoramic views of the entire lake. Unfortunately, due to not completely clear conditions it was not possible to see all of the lake. Despite this, the views we did see combined with the mountain air and thrill of a cable car was an amazing experience.
Our final full day on Friday gave us the chance to do some well, necessary souvenir shopping in our resort. Temperatures were at a way higher than expected 37 degrees, so ice lollies were definitely in order!
Sadly, every holiday has to come to an end, causing a return to the less exciting reality at home. Without a doubt Italy has so much more for me to hopefully see. My pictures simply don't do it justice.
Love,
H x
